Għal ġenerazzjonijiet sħaħ, il-Knisja tan-Nadur, issa Bazilika, kienet fiċ-ċentru tal-ħajja tar-raħal tagħna. Rat il-magħmudijiet, iż-żwiġijiet, il-festi u tant mumenti importanti għall-komunita’ tagħna. Illum, wasal iż-żmien li nkunu aħna li ngħinu lill-Knisja tagħna.
Kif jidher f’dan il-filmat, il-membrane tas-saqaf tal-knisja ddeterjora b’mod konsiderevoli u m’għadhux qed joffri l-protezzjoni meħtieġa. It-tiswijiet li saru matul is-snin m’għadhomx biżżejjed. Kull darba li tagħmel ix-xita, l-ilma qed jinfiltra mis-saqaf u qed jikkawża ħsarat lill-pitturi, lill-opri tal-arti u lill-wirt prezzjuż li ħallewlna missirijietna.
Esperti fir-restawr diġa’ qed jivvalutaw il-ħsarat, iżda jekk ma tittieħedx azzjoni b’urġenza, il-ħsarat se jkomplu jiggravaw. Dan il-proġett ta’ restawr huwa stmat madwar €30,000, liema xogħol irid isir fl-immedjat, jiġifieri matul dan is-sajf.
Matul ix-xhur li ġejjin se nkunu qed inwasslulkom aġġornamenti regolari dwar dan il-proġett, sabiex il-poplu kollu tan-Nadur ikun parti minn din il-mixja. Se nkunu trasparenti f’kull pass.
Qed nibdew kampanja ta’ ġbir ta’ fondi biex din il-ħidma tkun tista’ ssir. Għalhekk insejħu lill-komunita’ kollha biex, bħalma dejjem għamlet matul iż-żminijiet, terġa’ tingħaqad għal din il-kawża. Kull donazzjoni, żgħira jew kbira, tagħmel differenza.

Together We Can Protect Our Heritage.
For generations, the Church of Nadur, now Basilica, has been at the center of our village life. It has seen baptisms, marriages, feasts and so many important moments for our community. Today, it is time for us to help our Church.
As can be seen in this video, the membrane of the church’s roof has deteriorated considerably and is no longer offering the necessary protection. The repairs that have been made over the years are no longer enough. Every time it rains, water is seeping through the roof and causing damage to the paintings, works of art and the precious heritage left to us by our ancestors.
Restoration experts are already assessing the damage, but if urgent action is not taken, the damage will continue to worsen. This restoration project is estimated at around €30,000, which work must be carried out immediately, that is, during this summer.
Over the coming months we will be bringing you regular updates on this project, so that all the people of Nadur are part of this journey. We will be transparent at every step.
